Validation of Research Findings Related to Domestic Resources Mobilization Project (Read more)


I. Introduction

Transparency International chapters operating in East African Community (EAC) under the coordination of Transparency International-Kenya(TI-Kenya) are implementing a joint Project on “Domestic Resources Mobilization” at Regional level funded by Diakonia, through the Africa Economic Justice Programme, Embassy of Sweden, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In order to implement the above-mentioned project, all regional Chapters have conducted researches in their respective countries on : Beneficial Ownership transparency, assessment of mining laws, assessment of Auditor General’s reports and Transparency in Corporate Reporting. The latter has been conducted only by TI-Kenya.
The first phase of the project on conducting the assessments is now coming to an end in Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda and the validation forums will start in Rwanda on 19th and then other countries. The objective of these validation forums is to collect views from stakeholders to inform the reports further and to deepen ownership of the reports’ findings in the specific country to allow for the next phase of implementation.

II. Expected results

We expect that the stakeholders present will give their views, buy into the project and offer support for further implementation.

III. Expected participants

We expect 30 participants from different sectors including but not limited to :

  • - CSOs representatives working in areas of anti-corruption and accountability, mining and extractives, public debt, tax and Auditor General’s reports,
  • - Representatives from government in different sectors : Ministry of Natural resources , Ministry of Finance and economic planning, Rwanda Development Board(RDB), Rwanda Revenue Authority, Office of the Auditor General ,Parliament (APNAC representative), Office of the Ombudsman.
  • - Representative(s) from religious groups and women groups
  • - Youth representative
  • - PWD representative
