On 17 June 2026, TI-Rwanda Executive Director, Apollinaire Mupiganyi, received Bady Baldé, Deputy Executive Director of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), and his delegation during a courtesy visit as part of their mission to Rwanda.
During the meeting, the TI-Rwanda Executive Director shared insights into TI-Rwanda’s work and experience in the extractive industry and its contribution to promoting open governance in Rwanda.
Rwanda’s mineral export earnings reached a record US$1.75 billion in 2024, marking significant progress toward the national target of US$2.17 billion in annual export revenues by 2029. As the sector continues to expand, ensuring strong labor standards, workplace safety, transparency, accountability, and inclusive local development remains essential to achieving sustainable growth.
EITI’s mission is to promote understanding of natural resource management, strengthen public and corporate governance and accountability, and provide reliable data to inform policymaking and multi-stakeholder dialogue in the extractive sector.
As part of its mission to Rwanda, the EITI delegation met with a wide range of stakeholders and visited several institutions, including the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB), the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the Rwanda Extractive Industry Workers Union (REWU), the Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC), and other key stakeholders.
