“Enhancing Environmental & Social Accountability for a Resilient and Inclusive Urban Planning” Project

Overview

The project’s Overall Objective : Improve institutional and framework conditions for better access to climate-friendly and socially inclusive housing for poor households in Rwandan cities.

Specific Objectives :

Promote meaningful citizen participation in the planning and implementation of climate-friendly, socially inclusive housing for poor households. Contribute to the establishment of inclusive frameworks for green rental housing for low-income urban households. Enhance public practitioners’ understanding of climate-sensitive, inclusive urban planning and housing processes.

Within this project, TI-Rwanda acts as a social facilitator in the larger CSPH/GIZ project, focusing on ensuring broad, meaningful, and equitable community participation throughout neighborhood planning processes. The intervention covers two pilot areas — Gatenga (City of Kigali) and Musambira (Kamonyi District).
