Projet sur le changement climatique


Project Title : Ensuring integrity in climate policy-making and in climate finance decision-making and delivery at all levels.

Initiator of the project : Transparency International (International Secretariat in Berlin- German) initiated the project to ensure effective and equitable allocation of climate finance and ultimately the delivery of climate projects and their intended adaptation and mitigation targets.

Background of the project : This is a global project which was initially implemented in 6 countries : Bangladesh, Kenya, South Korea, Maldives, Mexico and Peru and since 2017, two additional countries joined including Rwanda. The project is also part of TI’s wider Climate Finance Integrity Programme, which has been operating since 2011 and currently works in 14 countries around the world.

Objective  : TI-RW is to contribute to promoting transparency, accountability and good governance in Climate Change Finance (CCF) in Rwanda.

More specifically, the actions activities are :

-  To identify the CCF stakeholders in Rwanda and understand their inter-linkages
-  To take stock of the existing climate change financial flows in Rwanda and the level of integrity of the key CCF stakeholders for a sound management
-  To monitor and evaluate some identified climate change financed projects to assess at what level they respond to the their intended objectives
-  To raise awareness of the policy makers and the general public for preventing and addressing loopholes in the management and implementation of CCF
-  To ensure knowledge exchanges and cooperation among the CCF practitioners at national, regional and international levels.
